I start by searching on Google Maps for coffee shops & cafes across Nashville, Franklin, and Murfreesboro. I screen out chains, closed locations, duplicates, and places that are not primarily coffee shops before a location appears here. Coffee shops with multiple locations get grouped into one so I can keep the number of locations to review manageable.

These ratings are subjective! Just because I like or don't like something doesn't mean you'll feel the same way. I try 2 drinks when I visit a shop - a cortado and a cold brew (black). I find that a cortado is a good way to judge the taste of the espresso and milk steaming ability; cold brew is just one of my favorite drinks. Each drink gets a score from 0 to 10, and the two are averaged together into the overall score; a shop with one drink rated shows that drink's score, labeled “Cortado only” or “Cold brew only”.
